CAIRO, Feb 28 (MENA) - Prime Minister Moustafa Madbouli inaugurated on Friday Al Aly Al Azeem Mosque in Cairo's Almaza district.
Awqaf Minister Osama Azhari attended the inauguration alongside a number of ministers and lawmakers.
Egypt's Grand Mufti Nazir Mohamed Ayyad, Cairo Governor Ibrahim Saber, and Chairman of the Armed Forces Engineering Authority Ahmed Azazi were also present.
After the inauguration, the premier underlined the state's keenness on renovating mosques and establishing new ones in various governorates.
The Awqaf Ministry gears up for opening 162 mosques, including 111 renovated ones, during the holy fasting month of Ramadan.
Chairman of the Armed Forces Engineering Authority Ahmed Azazi told the premier that the establishment of the three-storey mosque started in July 2023 and finalized in February 2025.
He noted that the 8,100-square-meter mosque can accommodate 5000 worshipers.
For his part, Awqaf Minister Osama Azhari said 1,126 mosques, including 770 upgraded mosques, have been inaugurated since July 2024. (MENA)
