CAIRO, Jan 31 (MENA) - Minister of Foreign Affairs and Emigration Badr Abdelatty Friday asserted Cairo's full support for any steps that could lead to preserving Lebanon's security and stability.
Abdelatty made the remarks during a meeting with Gebran Bassil, the head of the Free Patriotic Movement of Lebanon.
He expressed hopes that the election of a new president and government and the implementation of a cessation of hostilities agreement, which came into force on November 27, will serve as an important step and lead to a new chapter in the Lebanese political scene.
He also hoped that these developments would contribute to enabling Lebanon's national institutions, led by the Lebanese army, to achieve security and stability and preserve Lebanon's sovereignty, unity, and territorial integrity, leading to the implementation of UNSC Resolution 1701 by all parties.
Abdelatty also emphasized Cairo's unwavering support for Lebanon at all levels at such a critical stage in Lebanon's history, with a view to achieving security and stability across Lebanon and fulfilling the aspirations of the Lebanese people. (MENA)
