CAIRO, Jan 31 (MENA) - Minister of Foreign Affairs, Emigration and Egyptian Expatriates Badr Abdelatty stressed the importance of continuing to consolidate time-honored ties between Al-Azhar Al-Sharif and Egypt's Dar Al-Ifta with Lebanon's Dar Al-Fatwa.

The minister's remarks were made during a phone call with the Grand Mufti of Lebanon, Sheikh Abdel Latif Derian, on Friday.

During the telephone call, the minister expressed his sincere congratulations to Sheikh Abdel Latif on the election of Joseph Aoun as the new president of Lebanon and the designation of Prime Minister Nawaf Salam to form the new government.

Abdelatty also expressed Egypt's deep appreciation of the spiritual role played by the Grand Mufti to preserve the peaceful coexistence and national unity in Lebanon.

For his part, the Mufti expressed his great appreciation for Egypt's major role in support of Lebanon and its efforts to preserve stability, unity, security and sovereignty in the country. (MENA)
