CAIRO, Jan 15 (MENA) - Egypt's Ambassador to Belgium, Luxembourg, the European Union, and NATO Ahmed Abu Zeid Wednesday presented his credentials to NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte.
Following the ceremony, a bilateral meeting took place between the Egyptian ambassador and the Secretary General of the alliance, where they discussed developments related to the escalation of regional and international security challenges and threats, according to an official press release.
The Secretary General expressed interest in hearing the Egyptian ambassador's assessment of these developments and the efforts Egypt is making to halt the wars in Gaza and Sudan, enhance stability, and achieve peace in the region.
The meeting also addressed NATO's recently launched Southern Neighborhood Action Plan, the appointment of a NATO envoy for the Southern Neighborhood, and the ongoing cooperation programs between NATO and its regional partners.
Rutte expressed his appreciation for the significant efforts undertaken by Egypt under President Abdel Fattah El Sisi's leadership to resolve Middle Eastern crises, promote a culture of peace and development, and support stability.(MENA)
