CAIRO, March 4 (MENA) - President Abdel Fattah El Sisi said Egypt is willing to participate in the development efforts in Iraq and enhance bilateral cooperation in different fields, especially in the fields of infrastructure and energy.

Sisi made the remarks during his meeting on Tuesday with Iraqi President Abdul Latif Rashid, on the sidelines of the extraordinary Arab Summit held in the New Administrative Capital, said Presidential Spokesman Mohamed el Shennawy.

During the meeting, President Sisi emphasized Egypt's firm support for Iraq and its people.

On his part, the Iraqi president expressed his keenness to intensify political coordination with Egypt and foster bilateral cooperation in various areas, including the fight against terrorism, culture, basic infrastructure and trade.

The spokesman noted that the two leaders affirmed their support for the Palestinian people and their just cause, as well as their legitimate right to have an independent state on the borders of June 4, 1967, with East Jerusalem as its capital, as being the only guarantee for achieving lasting peace in the region.

The pair underlined the importance of starting the implementation of Egypt's reconstruction plan for Gaza without displacing its residents, after it was adopted by the Arab summit. (MENA)
