CAIRO, March 4 (MENA) - President Abdel Fattah El Sisi on Tuesday met with Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas on the sidelines of the extraordinary Arab summit in the New Administrative Capital (NAC).

During the meeting, President Sisi stressed Egypt's constant and permanent support for the Palestinian people and their just cause, said Presidential Spokesman Mohamed El Shennawy.

President Sisi also reiterated Egypt's rejection of displacing Palestinians from their land, as well as its rejection of the ongoing Israeli escalation against the Palestinian people in the Gaza Strip and the West Bank.

President Sisi said Egypt will continue its efforts to ensure the implementation of the three-phase ceasefire agreement in Gaza, noting there is no alternative to establishing a Palestinian state on the borders of June 4, 1967, with East Jerusalem as its capital, as being the only guarantee for achieving stability and lasting peace in the region.

The spokesman stated that President Sisi emphasized Egypt's backing for the Palestinian authority, while keeping the efforts aimed at bringing about the national reconciliation among Palestinian factions.

On his part, the Palestinian president expressed appreciation of Egypt's continued endeavors in support of the Palestinian cause. (MENA)
