CAIRO, April 12 (MENA) - Egypt welcomed Oman's hosting of the first round of direct nuclear talks between the US and Iran next week.
According to a statement by the Ministry of Emigration and Egyptian Expatriate Affairs on Saturday, Egypt praised Oman's continuous and constructive role in supporting political and peaceful solutions, given the grave challenges bedeviling the region, and the Sultanate's efforts to drive away the specter of an all-out regional war.
The ministry underscored Egypt's full support for Omani genuine efforts to reach political solutions through dialogue, an approach that Egypt has always advocated out of a strong belief that there are no military solutions to regional crises and that the policy of escalation and tension would only exacerbate the situation in the region.
"Egypt looks forward to the parties reaching an agreement that takes into account the concerns and interests of both parties, and ensures security and stability for neighboring countries in the Arab Gulf region," the statement says.
Egypt also expressed hopes that the upcoming talks will lead to the launch of a new phase that would contribute to achieving calm and reducing regional tensions, especially in the war-ravaged Gaza Strip, by reaching a sustainable ceasefire and starting reconstruction efforts in the Palestinian strip without displacing Palestinians from their land.
Egypt also hoped that the talks will pave the way for a serious political process that leads to the establishment of a Palestinian State and ending the Middle East conflict by implementing US President Donald Trump's vision to end international wars and conflicts and achieve a historic breakthrough that puts an end to Palestinians' decades-long suffering.
