PARIS, April 5 (MENA) - French President Emmanuel Macron said he will hold a trilateral summit with President Abdel Fattah El Sisi and King Abdullah II of Jordan to discuss the situation in the Gaza Strip.

"In response to the Gaza emergency and during my visit to Egypt at President al-Sisi's invitation, we will hold a trilateral summit with the Egyptian president and the King of Jordan," Macron wrote on X ahead of his trip.

During a phone call earlier today, President Sisi and Macron discussed bilateral relations and ways to promote them, in preparation for the former's upcoming visit to Cairo.

The two leaders reviewed prominent cooperation topics to be raised during the visit and prospects for strengthening them in line with the interests of the two countries.

They also discussed the possibility of holding a trilateral Egyptian-French-Jordanian summit in Cairo during Macron's visit, according to Presidential Spokesman Mohamed El-Shennawy.

Reviewing the developments in the Gaza Strip and Egypt's efforts to reach a ceasefire, the two presidents emphasized the importance of restoring calm through an immediate ceasefire and the provision of humanitarian aid.

They also underscored the importance of the two-state solution as the only guarantee for achieving lasting peace in the region. (MENA)
