CAIRO, April 27 (MENA) - Prime Minister Moustafa Madbouli emphasized the strength of strategic relations between Egypt and Germany at the political, economic, trade and investment levels.

Madbouli made the remarks Sunday during a meeting with German Ambassador to Egypt Jürgen Schulz - at the headquarters of the government in the New Administrative Capital - to review a number of topics of shared interest.

The meeting was attended by Assistant Minister of Foreign Affairs, Emigration and Egyptian Expatriates for European Affairs Ambassador Wael Hamed.

The premier said that he is looking forward to continuing working with the German ambassador in order to advance bilateral relations with all German states at all levels, within the framework of Egypt's keenness on developing economic relations with Germany, boosting the volume of trade exchange and Egyptian exports to the German and European markets, alongside luring more German investments.

Madbouli reaffirmed that Egypt is looking forward to attaining Germany's support to all issues related to Egyptian interests within international bodies and institutions, including the European Union.

He underlined the importance of Germany's backing for the swift approval and disbursement of the second tranche - worth a total value of 4 billion euros - of the European financial support package for Egypt. It is noteworthy that tripartite consultations are expected to take place in May between the European Council, European Parliament, and European Commission on the disbursement of the financial package to Egypt.

For his part, the German ambassador hailed relations between Egypt and Germany as "strategic" and "distinguished".

Schulz highlighted the strong historical ties in the fields of politics, economy, culture, and science.

The German government, which is currently being formed, will be keen to enhance cooperation with the Egyptian government in various fields, he noted.

He lauded Egypt's prominent role in the mediation efforts aimed at ending the war in Gaza and reaching a ceasefire.

He underlined Germany's support for the Gaza reconstruction plan adopted by Arab and Islamic countries. (MENA)
