CAIRO, April 3 (MENA) - Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouli said on Thursday the State attaches great importance to the energy file in light of its vital role in securing different needs and requirements of the productive and consumer sectors.
Madbouli gave the remarks during a meeting attended by Electricity Minister Mahmoud Esmat, Finance Minister Ahmed Kouchouk, Petroleum Minister Karim Badawi and other senior officials to follow up on the energy file.
Madbouli said he is constantly following up on efforts of bodies concerned to provide petroleum products and coordination among these bodies to secure the energy sector's needs and ensure the continued operation of power plants nationwide.
He underlined the need to maximize the utilization of Egypt's natural resources by expanding research, exploration, and production activities in cooperation with several international companies operating in this field.
Cabinet spokesman Mohamed el Homsani expounded steps and measures being taken in cooperation with various relevant authorities to prepare for the summer season and secure needed energy either by relying on conventional or renewable sources.
The premier highlighted the state's efforts to support the role of the new energy sector to help lure more investment to this promising sector.
The meeting also tackled efforts to improve the efficiency of power generation plants, as well as efforts to develop control centers and distribution networks through fostering cooperation with major international companies operating in these domains. (MENA)
