CAIRO, March 23 (MENA) - President Abdel Fattah El Sisi said Sunday relations between Egypt and Eritrea are deep, adding that Egypt is keen on strengthening bilateral ties in all fields.

During President Sisi's meeting Sunday with Eritrean Foreign Minister Osman Saleh Mohammed, in the presence of Minister of Foreign Affairs, Emigration and Egyptian Expatriates Badr Abdelatty and head of the General Intelligence Service Hassan Rashad, the Egyptian president asserted Egypt 's interest in further promoting ties with Eritrea, Presidential Spokesperson Mohamed el-Shenawy said.

The Eritrean top diplomat said, the meeting addressed the situation in the Horn of Africa region and ways to enhance regional stability, whether through joint efforts of the two countries or the tripartite coordination mechanism with Somalia, the spokesperson added.

The two sides affirmed Egypt and Eritrea's commitment to working to support Somalia in combating terrorism and preserving the unity and integrity of Somali territories, he said.

Shenawy noted that the meeting also addressed ways to restore peace and stability in Sudan, ways to protect the Red Sea and enhance the efforts of coastal states to secure it, and the rejection of any non-coastal states playing a role in this regard. (MENA)
