CAIRO, March 23 (MENA) - Oman's Ambassador to Egypt and Permanent Representative to the Arab League (AL) Abdullah bin Nasser al-Rahbi, reaffirmed his country's belief in the Arab AL role as a unifying force for Arab nations.
In a statement on Sunday marking the Arab League's 80th anniversary, the Omani ambassador stressed his country's commitment to strengthening its mechanisms to address regional and international challenges.
Rahbi said reform discussions are ongoing as Oman believes any progress should be comprehensive, gradual, and backed by clear commitment from member states.
He said despite ongoing challenges, the pan-Arab body remains crucial in strengthening Arab solidarity, with the Arab nation needing to intensify joint efforts to tackle the security, economic, and social issues affecting its peoples.
The Omani ambassador emphasized that transforming shared Arab visions into tangible projects, including achieving food security and economic integration, requires clear political will from Arab countries and more effective implementation mechanisms within the AL.
Peace can only be achieved through the two-state solution, leading to the establishment of an independent Palestinian state along 1967 borders, he said.
The Omani diplomat said the AL's role is more crucial than ever, as the Arab nation faces significant challenges that require unified efforts and stronger joint action mechanisms to effectively address them. (MENA)
