CAIRO, March 23 (MENA) - The Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Emigration and Egyptian Expatriates on Sunday hosted a meeting of the Arab-Islamic ministerial committee on Gaza with EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Kaja Kallas, in the presence of Foreign Minister Badr Abdelatty.

The meeting was attended by Saudi Foreign Minister Prince Faisal bin Farhan, Qatari Foreign Minister Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani, Palestinian Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Mohammed Mustafa, Jordanian Foreign Minister Ayman Safadi, Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan, Bahraini Foreign Minister Abdullatif Alzayani, UAE Minister of State of Foreign Affairs Khalifa Shaheen Almarar, Arab League Secretary General Ahmed Abul Gheit and Secretary General of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation Hussein Ibrahim Taha, as well as two representatives of Indonesia and Nigeria.

The meeting tackled the details of the Egyptian-Arab-Islamic plan for Gaza reconstruction.

In a joint statement, the attendees said they discussed the latest developments in the occupied Palestinian territories, voicing their great concern over the collapse of the ceasefire in the Gaza Strip and the resumption of Israeli airstrikes on the Palestinian enclave, leaving a large number of Palestinians killed and injured.

The parties condemned the resumption of hostilities and the targeting of civilians and civilian infrastructure. They called for the full implementation of the ceasefire agreement and the release of Israeli captives and Palestinian detainees. This agreement, which came into effect on January 19, was brokered by Egypt, Qatar and the United States.

The conferees underlined the necessity of entering the second phase of the agreement, which ensures the release of all Israeli captives, a permanent end to hostilities, and full withdrawal of Israeli forces from the devastated Palestinian enclave, in accordance with UN Security Council Resolution 2735.

They urged for full respect for international humanitarian law and international law, through allowing rapid, sustainable and unhindered access of humanitarian aid to Gaza.

In this context, they advocated for lifting all restrictions on the flow of humanitarian aid and immediately restoring all basic services in Gaza, including electricity supply.

The attendees welcomed the Arab plan for the early recovery and reconstruction of Gaza.

They emphasized the Egypt-crafted plan ensures Palestinians remain on their land, expressing their total rejection of the transfer of displacement of the Palestinian people from Gaza and the West Bank, including East Jerusalem.

The attendees emphasized the importance of supporting the upcoming conference on the early recovery and reconstruction in Gaza, which is scheduled to take place in Cairo with the participation of relevant parties.

They called on the international community to mobilize the resources to be announced during the Cairo conference to address the catastrophic situation in Gaza.
