CAIRO, March 20 (MENA) - Minister of Foreign Affairs and Emigration Badr Abdelatty paid on Thursday a field visit to Tanzania's Julius Nyerere Hydropower Plant and Dam implemented by the companies of Arab Contractors and Elsewedy Electric.

The dam aims at providing Tanzania's electricity needs.

This comes at the presidential directives to prioritizes finishing the implementation of the project.

A number of high-level Tanzanian officials along with Egyptian and Tanzanian parliamentarians accompanied the minister during his visit.

During his tour of the dam, Abdelatty said that the project is an example to follow for cooperation between the Nile Basin partners and upstream and downstream countries in the projects of hydropower dams.

Abdelatty asserted Egypt's keenness on supporting development in the Nile Basin. (MENA)
