CAIRO, March 2 (MENA) - Minister of Foreign Affairs, Emigration and Egyptian Expatriates Affairs Badr Abdelatty praised on Sunday the momentum in Egypt-European Union (EU) relations after their elevation in March 2024.
This came during a joint press conference held by the Foreign Minister with European Commissioner for the Mediterranean Dubravka Šuica, following their talks at the ministry's headquarters in the New Administrative Capital.
At the beginning of the conference, Abdelatty welcomed the European Commissioner and the accompanying delegation on her first visit.
"This visit reflects the joint keenness of both sides to enhance cooperation and close coordination in order to achieve security and stability in the Middle East and the Mediterranean," he said.
"The European Commissioner was honored earlier today to be received by President Abdel Fattah El Sisi, where she listened to his vision for enhancing cooperation, as well as the President's vision regarding the unprecedented developments in the Middle East and Egypt's efforts to achieve regional security and stability," he added.
"Today's discussions with the European Commissioner addressed the distinguished relations between Egypt and the European Union and the frameworks governing the relations," he said, noting that it was agreed to fully implement the six axes of the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership Agreement.
Regarding the first axis of the partnership related to political consultations," Abdelatty said "it was agreed to hold the second summit between the two sides, and we hope that this will happen this year, as it was agreed to meet at summit level alternatively every two years. (MORE)
