CAIRO, March 3 (MENA) - Minister of Foreign Affairs and Emigration Badr Abdelatty received Monday former Minister of Tourism and Antiquities and Egypt's candidate for the position of Director General of UNESCO Khaled el-Anani within the framework of periodic meetings held by the foreign minister to follow up on the Egyptian nomination file.
The meeting, attended by director of the nomination campaign Minister Plenipotentiary Wael Abdel Wahab, took up the latest developments in the nomination campaign, as well as African and Arab support for the Egyptian candidate, in addition to official support expressed by many countries.
Also discussed was the campaign's action plan and the electoral vision to be presented to UNESCO later this month in preparation for the elections that will be held in October 2025.
Abdelatty said the Ministry of Foreign Affairs will continue to mobilize regional and international support for the Egyptian candidate during the upcoming period.
Egypt is entitled to obtain the high-level international post, taking into account its historical pioneering role at the educational, cultural and scientific levels, as well as its regional and international status, he added. (MENA)
