CAIRO, March 3 (MENA) - Prime Minister Moustafa Madbouli on Monday chaired a meeting to follow up on anti-dumping measures and efforts to combat contraband trade in the Egyptian market.
The meeting was attended by Deputy Prime Minister for Industrial Development and Minister of Industry and Transport Kamel el Wazir, Minister of Finance Ahmed Kouchouk, Minister of Investments and Foreign Trade Hassan el Katib, General Authority of the Suez Canal Economic Zone (SCZONE) Chairman Walid Gamal el Dein, General Organization for Export and Import Control Head Essam el Nagar and officials of ministries concerned.
The meeting aimed to follow up on the efforts made for fighting contraband and counterfeit goods in the domestic market, Madbouli said adding that the meeting will review measures proposed by the industry minister in this regard.
The ministerial committee for industrial development has received a number of complaints from some Egyptian manufacturers regarding smuggled goods in the market, Wazir said.
He added that a number of smuggling cases facing national manufacturers have already been reported.
During the meeting, the ministers of finance and investment proposed a number of controls and procedures to be implemented in ports, customs, and for personal imports, in order to confront any violations.
Madbouli, meanwhile, directed swift approval of the proposed measures, in preparation to be submitted to the cabinet for endorsement and starting their implementation. (MENA)
