CAIRO, March 3 (MENA) - Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouli underlined the depth of Egyptian-Slovenian relations within the framework of the close ties between Egypt and the European Union.
Madbouli made the remarks during a meeting on Monday with former Slovenian President Borut Pahor.
The meeting was attended by Deputy Premier and Transport and Industry Minister Kamel el Wazir, Slovenian Ambassador to Egypt Sašo Podlesnik, Deputy Assistant Foreign Minister for Central European Affairs Yasser Hisham, and CEO of LANcom Miha Jurgec along with several officials from LANcom.
The premier asserted keenness on fostering cooperation with Slovenia in various domains.
He welcomed the former president as well as officials from LANcom which is specialized in railway systems.
He voiced hope for cooperating with LANcom under a project proposed by the company to prevent train accidents using artificial intelligence.
Meanwhile, the former Slovenian president expressed pleasure for visiting Egypt again as he visited Cairo many times during his presidency.
He asked Madbouli to forward his greetings to President Abdel Fattah El Sisi as they collaborated over years to build distinguished ties between Egypt and Slovenia.
Pahor commended the strenuous efforts exerted by the Egyptian government to build a strong state respected by the whole world.
He hailed Egypt's pivotal role in maintaining security and stability in the Middle East.
During the meeting, the CEO of LANcom expressed his appreciation for the visit to Egypt, noting that the company has long considered the Egyptian market as a key destination for new projects and has several good ideas to enhance the efficiency of Egypt's railways.
Jurgec explained that LANcom is a Slovenian family-owned company specialized in railway systems, noting that the company has a project to prevent train accidents using artificial intelligence. This involves equipping trains with the latest sensor technologies.
The company seeks implementing this project in Egypt in collaboration with a local partner.
He said that the project would be funded by one of Slovenia's financial entities.
For his part, the transport minister said the company has a long experience in railways and safety systems, adding that Egypt is looking forward to cooperating in this project.
He said it was agreed with the company's officials to pilot the project in one of the railway lines to assess its success. (MENA)
