CAIRO, March 2 (MENA) - Minister of Foreign Affairs Emigration and Egyptian Expatriates Badr Abdelatty held political talks on Sunday with EU Commissioner for Mediterranean Dubravka Šuica’s on the Egyptian-European relations and the latest regional and international developments of mutual interest.

The foreign minister said Egypt is looking forward to working with the EU Commission to support cooperation with the EU within the framework of implementing the six axes of strategic and comprehensive partnership, Spokesman for the Foreign Ministry Tamim Khalaf said.

Abdelatty asserted the importance of the economic segment in the strategic partnership, the spokesman said.

He said the Egyptian government prioritizes attracting European investments.

The foreign minister apprised the EU official of the promising investment opportunities in Egypt in the various sectors, in addition to the importance of the SCZONE as a global logistic center.

He highlighted the opportunities of cooperation in the field of energy.

The talks witnessed exchanging points of view on the latest regional developments of mutual interest topped by the situation in the Gaza Strip, the spokesman said.

The foreign minister also highlighted the Egyptian efforts exerted to guarantee the sustainability of a ceasefire agreement in Gaza and the plan that is being crystallized for the reconstruction of Gaza.

Abdelatty necessitated reaching a just and permanent solution to the Palestinian cause until establishing an independent Palestinian state.

He also asserted Egypt’s supportive stance to Syria and respecting its sovereignty and unity.

Abdelatty refferd to the Lebanese government getting the confidence of the members of the parliament, adding that it is an important step to start a new stage that would contribute to achieving security and stability in Lebanon.

The talks also shed light on the situation in Sudan as the foreign minister asserted Egypt’s full support to the Sudanese people. (MENA)
