CAIRO, Feb 13 (MENA) – Minister of Foreign Affairs, Emigration, and Egyptian Expatriates Affairs Badr Abdelatty stressed the urgency of starting Gaza’s recovery and reconstruction while ensuring that the Palestinians remain on their land with full international support.

During a meeting in Paris with Hisashi Matsumoto, Japan’s Deputy Foreign Minister, Abdelatty praised Japan’s role in regional and global affairs, noting the strong alignment between Egypt and Japan on key international principles.

He emphasized the importance of the Egyptian-Japanese strategic partnership, established in 2023, and Egypt’s commitment to participating in the TICAD 9 summit in Yokohama. He also praised Japan’s contributions to Africa’s peace and development efforts.

On Gaza, Abdelatty reviewed Egypt’s role in implementing the ceasefire agreement, ensuring humanitarian aid delivery, and pushing for a long-term political solution.

He reaffirmed Egypt’s stance on a two-state solution based on the June 4, 1967, borders, with East Jerusalem as Palestine’s capital.

Matsumoto recognized Egypt’s key mediation efforts, commending its role in securing the ceasefire and aiding Gaza since the crisis began. (MENA)
