CAIRO, Feb 13 (MENA) – The International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) Thursday called for adherence to the ceasefire agreement in the Gaza Strip.

In statements to the Nile Radio Network (NRN), committee spokesperson Hesham Mahna called for reuniting families through the release of detainees and prisoners, stressing the importance of this step in alleviating human suffering.

There is a noticeable improvement in the humanitarian response to the situation in Gaza, as hundreds of thousands of people have returned to their homes, in addition to receiving support that includes shelter and health care tools, which contributes to alleviating the severity of the crisis, he said.

Mahna praised efforts made by Egypt through its mediation and pressure to stop the attacks and reach a ceasefire agreement, expressing the ICRC's appreciation.

Mahna appreciated the role of Egypt, government, and people in bringing humanitarian aid into the Gaza Strip, expressing his hope that these efforts would continue to the greatest extent possible to support the affected population. (MENA)
