CAIRO, April 17 (MENA) - Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouli announced that he has directed the Finance Ministry to disburse EGP 3 billion in outstanding payments to cotton farmers next week, covering approximately 300,000 qintars that had not yet been paid.

Speaking at a press conference following Thursday’s weekly Cabinet meeting, Madbouli acknowledged that some farmers had voiced concerns over delayed payments, adding that the government had taken swift action to address the issue.

The premier said that total cotton production this season reached around 1.45 million qintars, and with the upcoming payment, the government will have settled dues for approximately 1.3 million qintars.

The remaining 150,000 qintars were previously subject to review, but coordination between the Ministry of Finance and relevant authorities has resolved the matter,” he added. (MENA)
