CAIRO, April 17 (MENA) - Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouli on Thursday was briefed on progress of joint files between the ministries of finance and supply as well ad measures of securing the strategic reserve of supply commodities during the coming period.

The government announced availability of all the strategic supply commodities with adequate amounts at subsidized commodities outlets nationwide, in order to meet people's needs - during the prime minister's meeting with Minister of Finance Ahmed Kouchouk, Minister of Supply and Internal Trade Sherief Farouk, and a host officials of both ministries.

The meeting tackled measures aimed at accelerating the payment of arrears of wheat suppliers and farmers, according to Cabinet Spokesman Mohamed el-Homosany.

The minister of supply said the ministry is diligently monitoring daily provision of commodities through the Holding Company for Food Industries, in order to maintain market stability and secure citizens' daily needs, the spokesman said.

Strategic stock of the basic strategic commodities is secured for sufficient periods exceeding the safe limits, hence ensuring the sustainable availability of food commodities under various conditions and continued provision of products at consumer complex outlets, in line with directives of the political leadership, Farouk added.

Supply of local wheat from farmers for the current season has commenced based on the announced prices, which guarantee a rewarding return for the farmers, the minister noted

During the meeting, Madbouli and the ministers agreed on forming a permanent working group comprising officials from the ministries of finance and supply to address joint files. (MENA)
