CAIRO, March 18 (MENA) – Minister of Foreign Affairs, Emigration and Egyptian Expatriates Badr Abdelatty on Tuesday held phone calls with High Representative of the European Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Kaja Kallas, Norwegian Minister of Foreign Affairs Espen Barth Eide and Spanish Foreign Minister Jose Manuel Albares.
The move comes in light of successive developments in the Gaza Strip.
The calls focused on the Israeli aggression on the Gaza Strip and its dire repercussions on the region’s stability.
During the calls, Abdelatty said the Israeli aggression is reviving tension in the region and hindering the strenuous efforts aimed at calming the situation and restoring stability.
The Egyptian foreign minister stressed the need for the European Union to place pressure on Israel to immediately stop its aggression against civilians in the Gaza Strip, which he said constitutes a flagrant violation of the ceasefire agreement.
He also emphasized the need for parties to exercise self-restraint to allow mediators to complete their efforts to hammer out a permanent ceasefire agreement in its three phases.
During the calls, it was agreed to continue contacts and joint coordination to de-escalate the situation in Gaza. (MENA)
