CAIRO, March 19 (MENA) – Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouli affirmed that regional stability depends on ceasefire and negotiations, stressing that military solutions will not bring lasting peace.
He urged all parties to return to the truce framework and move toward a permanent peace agreement that allows Gaza’s reconstruction.
During a press conference after the cabinet meeting, Madbouli expressed deep concern over renewed Israeli airstrikes on Gaza, which have caused significant civilian casualties.
He warned that this escalation threatens to destabilize the region, reversing progress made by Egypt, Qatar, and the US in brokering a two-month ceasefire. He also noted US airstrikes on the Houthis in Yemen, adding that such actions increase uncertainty in the Red Sea region.
Discussing Egypt’s economy, Madbouli highlighted positive developments, including declining inflation, rising foreign reserves, and growth in tourism and exports.
The Premier confirmed that the government is streamlining investment procedures, with a focus on simplifying business licensing, particularly in the tourism sector.
On housing, he announced that 400,000 new units will be offered after Eid el-Fitr, following President Abdel Fattah El Sisi’s directives to expand affordable housing for low- and middle-income families.
Regarding Egypt’s cultural and tourism initiatives, Madbouli confirmed that preparations for the Grand Egyptian Museum’s international opening event are progressing.
He also discussed the Digital Pioneers (Digilians) initiative, a program that will launch mid-year to train young Egyptians in IT and software development, boosting Egypt’s role in the global digital economy.
Madbouli reaffirmed Egypt’s commitment to economic stability and regional peace, ensuring that ongoing reforms and development projects continue to drive national growth. (MENA)
