The minister said that the return of Gaza residents to the north is a powerful testament to their deep-rooted connection to their land, likening it to scenes from the pilgrimage.
Abdelatty reaffirmed Egypt’s strong support for Palestine, stating that no country has contributed more to the Palestinian cause and that Egypt has always acted with honor and integrity.
He noted that Egypt played a big role in negotiating the ceasefire, working for 15 months alongside Qatar and the United States, acknowledging the Trump administration’s efforts in securing the agreement.
The FM stressed Egypt’s commitment to sustaining the ceasefire and halting civilian casualties, revealing that Egypt has provided 70% of the humanitarian aid to Gaza, while the rest of the world contributed 30%.
He called for the swift reopening of the Rafah crossing from the Palestinian side to facilitate further aid deliveries.
The top diplomat also pointed to Egypt’s December-hosted humanitarian conference for Gaza, which successfully mobilized resources, with further efforts underway to secure additional aid.
Additionally, Egypt, in partnership with the UN, is preparing a major conference to gather support for Gaza’s reconstruction.
Abdelatty noted that lasting peace requires a clear political roadmap leading to the establishment of a Palestinian state. (MORE)
