CAIRO, July 14 (MENA) - Minister of Foreign Affairs, Emigration and Egyptian Expatriates Badr Abdelatty applauded the European Union's commitment to promoting cooperation with South-Mediterranean countries, stressing Egypt's keenness to enhance its strategic relations with the EU in the various fields.
Addressing the 5th EU-Southern Neighbourhood Ministerial Meeting held in Brussels on Monday, Abdelatty also highlighted the importance of fostering economic, trade, investment, and cultural ties between the EU and the southern neighboring countries, supporting human development, and working to provide new sources of development finance.
He also called for enhancing cooperation in the areas of industry, energy, food and water security, ICT, technology transfer, and Artificial Intelligence.
Abdelatty said Egypt gives top priority to consolidating regional security and stability through the peaceful settlement of disputes, in line with the principles of international law and UN resolutions, emphasizing the need for the Palestinian people to attain their legitimate right to establish an independent Palestinian state on the June 4th, 1967 borders with East Jerusalem as its capital.
The meeting in Brussels aimed to discuss the latest developments related to the imminent launch of a new charter for regional cooperation in the Mediterranean. (MENA)
