CAIRO, April 27 (MENA) - Minister of Foreign Affairs, Emigration and Egyptian Expatriates Badr Abdelatty affirmed Egypt’s aspiration to elevate relations with the United Kingdom across all political, economic, and investment fields, building on the outcomes of the second session of the Egyptian-British Association Council, which was held in Cairo in January 2025.
During a phone call on Sunday with UK’s National Security Adviser Jonathan Powell, the two sides discussed ways to enhance bilateral relations and exchanged views on regional issues of mutual concern, as well as the overall relations between the two countries.
They probed regional developments, foremost among them those related to the Palestinian problem.
Abdelatty reviewed Egypt’s efforts to resume the ceasefire in the Gaza Strip and to begin implementing the second phase of the agreement.
He stressed the necessity of ensuring the delivery of humanitarian aid to the war-ravaged Gaza and briefed the British official on Egypt’s ongoing efforts to host an international conference on early recovery and reconstruction in Gaza, in cooperation with the United Nations and the Palestinian government.
