CAIRO, March 18 (MENA) - President Abdel Fattah El Sisi and Bahrain's King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa reiterated their total rejection of any measures or decisions on the displacement of Palestinians from their lands.
Sisi and King Hamad affirmed that the establishment of an independent Palestinian state on the 1967 borders with East Jerusalem as its capital is the only guarantee for achieving lasting peace and stability in the region.
The remarks came in a phone call between the two leaders, as they discussed the regional situation and the ongoing escalation in the Gaza Strip, said Presidential Spokesman Mohamed El Shennawy.
The pair condemned Israeli airstrikes on the Palestinian enclave that left hundreds of Palestinians dead and wounded, in blatant violation of international law.
They called for an immediate ceasefire in Gaza, urging the international community to assume its responsibility for protecting Gaza residents against the Israeli brutal aggression.
Sisi and King Hamad underlined the necessity of abiding by the outcomes of the Extraordinary Arab Summit, which was held in Cairo on March 4, especially with regard to the Egypt-crafted Gaza reconstruction plan.
The spokesman stated the two leaders emphasized their keenness to elevate bilateral cooperation in different fields to wider prospects and continue close coordination between the two countries on regional issues. (MENA)
