CAIRO, March 17 (MENA) - Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouli chaired an extensive meeting on Monday to follow up on the implementation mechanisms of recommendations of the government's advisory committee on tourism development.
The meeting was attended by Deputy Prime Minister for Human Development and Minister of Health and Population Khaled Abdel Ghaffar, Minister of Environment Yasmine Fouad, Minister of Irrigation and Water Resources Hani Sweilam, Minister of Local Development Manal Awad, Minister of Finance Ahmed Kouchouk, Minister of Tourism and Antiquities Sherif Fathy, Minister of Civil Aviation Sameh Hefny, Minister of Housing Sherif el Sherbini, along with other several senior officials.
Madbouli said work has begun to monitor the implementation of the committee’s proposals, which are being coordinated with the relevant ministers and officials.
The meeting reviewed certain fees and service charges collected from hotel and tourism establishments on behalf of various ministries and concerned entities.
The discussion included requests to facilitate the entry of global brands sought by tourists in shopping malls.
The participants also discussed the expansion plan for Marsa Alam Airport to accommodate the increasing number of tourists.
For his part, Governor of the Red Sea Amr Hanafi called for the swift operation of Berenice Airport, particularly given its proximity to key tourist destinations. (MENA)
