CAIRO, March 12 (MENA) - President Abdel Fattah El Sisi underlined on Wednesday the importance of making the best use of the momentum expected to be generated by the opening ceremony of the Grand Egyptian Museum (GEM) in July 2025 to promote Egypt's tourist attractions.

He called for stepping up preparations to ensure the event is commensurate with Egypt’s status and rich history without placing any financial burden on the state budget, noting that the museum is one of the largest cultural and civilizational landmarks in the world.

Sisi made the remarks during a meeting with Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouli, Tourism and Antiquities Minister Sherif Fathi and managing director of the United Media Services Tarek Makhlouf.

Presidential spokesman Mohamed el Shennawi said the meeting tackled preparations for the museum opening as well as all organizational aspects related to the opening ceremony.

Sisi was briefed on the activities to take place on the sidelines of the inauguration ceremony with the aim of promoting the tourism sector in the country, highlighting the nation’s historical contributions to global heritage and increasing tourist arrivals.

The meeting also tackled the museum’s promotional and marketing plan, including cooperation with the private sector to launch marketing campaigns in hotels and resorts. (MENA)
