CAIRO, March 9 (MENA) – Minister of Foreign Affairs, Emigration, and Egyptian Expatriates Badr Abdelatty confirmed that discussions are ongoing with the US administration and President Trump’s Middle East envoy regarding Egypt’s Gaza reconstruction plan.

The plan was approved at the Emergency Arab Summit for Palestine, which Egypt hosted last week.

In statements to Nile News, Abdelatty said initial US reactions were not negative, and the envoy acknowledged constructive elements in the plan.

The minister added that talks will continue to refine and implement the proposal with US coordination in the coming week.

The top diplomat noted that Egypt urged the US to involve American companies in the reconstruction process, which is structured in three phases.

The first, lasting up to a year with a $3 billion budget, focuses on early recovery, temporary housing for over a million Palestinians, and restoring essential services.

The second phase, which will last two years and cost an estimated $20 billion, includes clearing rubble, reclaiming land from the Mediterranean to expand Gaza, and restoring hospitals, schools, and permanent housing for 200,000 people.

The final phase, set for two and a half years with a $30 billion budget, aims to develop long-term housing projects and industrial initiatives to create jobs for Palestinians. (MORE)
