CAIRO, March 9 (MENA) - Minister of Youth and Sports Ashraf Sobhy received members of a visiting delegation of the World Para Powerlifting of the International Paralympic Committee (IPC) to follow up on the latest preparations for Egypt’s organization of the 2025 World Para Powerlifting Championship set for Egypt during the period from Oct. 3 to 20.

More than a thousand participants from the various countries are expected to partake in the contest.

In a statement Sunday the minister of sports said, since 2019, a strategy has been forged for Egyptian sports, especially for world and continental championships envisaging Egypt as a key host for major world contests, especially that Egypt possess state-of-the-art sports facilities and well-equipped infrastructure.

According to the minister, this is the first time that Egypt hosts this major event, adding that it is also the first time for the championship to be organized within the African continent,.

The event is the largest in Paralympic weightlifting, which indicates the great confidence the IPC has given Egypt attesting to great efforts reflected in Egypt building impressing sports complexes, in line with international sports facilities in major countries around the world, thus qualifying Egypt to organize and host major international sports tournaments and events.

Hossam el-Din Mustafa, Chairman of the Paralympic Committee, Amr Haddad Undersecretary of the Ministry of Youth and Sports and head of the Central Administration for Sports Development and Mahmoud Abdel Aziz Director General of the Specialized Federations Department at the Ministry of Youth and Sports took part in the meeting.
