CAIRO, Feb 25 (MENA) – Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouli reaffirmed the government’s commitment to expanding the digital economy and supporting startups, praising their role in economic growth and foreign investment.

During a meeting with the Advisory Committee on Digital Economy and Entrepreneurship, Madbouli stressed that a ministerial group is overseeing policies to support startups and enhance their growth potential.

The committee proposed establishing an Entrepreneurship Unit under the Prime Minister’s office to streamline efforts, address investor challenges, and strengthen Egypt’s startup ecosystem.

Discussions also covered expanding Egypt’s outsourcing and data center industries, sectors with strong global demand where Egypt has a competitive edge.

Minister of Planning Rania Al-Mashat reviewed efforts to develop policies, improve regulations, and create funding strategies to integrate startups into national projects.

She introduced a new financing initiative to support 5,000 startups and generate 500,000 jobs.

Minister of Communications Amr Talaat noted Egypt’s strong potential in outsourcing, citing growing global demand for IT skills.

He emphasized the importance of promoting Egypt’s capabilities, enhancing workforce training, and expanding data infrastructure to maintain competitiveness. (MENA)
