CAIRO, Feb 12 (MENA) - Chief of Staff of the Armed Forces Lieutenant General Ahmed Khalifa attended the opening session of the 5+5 Joint Military Committee (JMC 5+5) meetings hosted by Egypt.
This fell within the framework of the non-stop Egyptian efforts to support the Libyan people, secure the proper climate for dialogue, achieve consensus among all parties to prioritize the interests of the Libyan state and its people, in addition to supporting the United Nations' efforts with regard to the UN mission that aims to ensure Libya's unity.
The committee meetings discussed a number of issues of common interest with the aim of unifying visions that support the stability of the Libyan state and protect Libya's sovereignty over its lands.
During the opening session, Khalifa underlined appreciation for the historical relations binding the Egyptian and Libyan peoples.
He commended the continued efforts of the Libyan people and their attempts to narrow the gap between viewpoints in order to unify the state's military and security institutions and consolidate the ceasefire agreement, thus promoting security and stability in Libya.
The members of the Libyan delegation expressed their deep appreciation to the Egyptian state for hosting the committee meetings in order to continue discussions on viable proposals and ideas that can benefit the Libyan people. (MENA)
