CAIRO, Feb 10 (MNEA) - Egypt has urged the international community to embrace a shared political vision for resolving the Palestinian issue.

As the Middle East region is currently at a critical juncture, Cairo affirms that the only way to confront threats to regional and international peace and security, caused by the Israeli occupation and its recent aggression on Gaza, is for the international community to adopt an approach that takes into account the rights of all peoples in the region without distinction or discrimination, says a statement by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Emigration and Egyptian Expatriates on Monday.

This applies to the Palestinian people who are suffering an unprecedented infringement upon their basic human rights, including the right to live peacefully on their own land, the statement added.

Egypt maintains its firm stance against violating any of these rights, including the right to self-determination, territorial integrity, and independence, as well as the right of return for Palestinian refugees who were forced to leave their homeland, in line with humanitarian values and the principles of international law and international humanitarian law, the ministry said.

Egypt cautioned against disregarding international legitimacy in addressing regional crises, as this could undermine the peace established through decades of effort and sacrifice.

Finally, Cairo reiterated its commitment to maintaining cooperation with all regional and international partners to achieve a comprehensive and just peace in the region, leading to the establishment of an independent Palestinian state, on the land of Palestine, based on international law, along the lines of June 4, 1967, with Al-Quds (East Jerusalem) as its capital.
