CAIRO, Feb 11 (MENA) - Foreign Minister Badr Abdelatty had talks on Tuesday in Washington with US Congressman Mario Diaz-Balart, Co-Chair of the Congressional Friends of Egypt Caucus and Chairman of the State and Foreign Operations (SFOPS) Appropriations Subcommittee.
The talks tackled the intensive efforts exerted by Egypt to implement the three-stage ceasefire agreement in Gaza, exchange of hostages and prisoners and allowing humanitarian and relief assistance into the Gaza Strip.
Abdelatty underlined the importance of finding a political path for the Palestinian-Israeli conflict leading to the establishment of an independent Palestinian state in accordance with the two-state solution.
Abdelatty commended Diaz-Balart's stands supporting the strategic partnership between Egypt and the US, underlining the depth of the Egyptian-US ties.
He highlighted the key role played by Egypt in promoting security and stability in the Middle East.
For his part, Diaz-Balart voiced appreciation to the Egyptian-US ties and the pivotal role played by Egypt in beefing up security and stability in the Middle East.
He lauded the long-standing strategic partnership between Egypt and the US.
He accentuated the importance of coordination and consultation between the two sides vis-a-vis various regional files. (MENA)
