CAIRO, Dec 3 (MENA) - Egypt is not taking sides with regards to any of Sudan's factions, but it stands with the Sudanese people and the national state institutions, which are considered an essential pillar in preserving the nation, affirmed Minister of Foreign Affairs, Emigration and Egyptian Expatriates Badr Abdelatty.
AbdelAtty, meanwhile, emphasized the importance of attaining ceasefire in Sudan and starting a comprehensive political process, which fulfills the aspirations of the Sudanese people.
His remarks were made during his meeting on Tuesday with a host of Sudanese politicians and representatives from the Sudanese civil community during his current visit to Port Sudan.
During the meeting, Abdelatty affirmed the close and outstanding relations between Egypt and Sudan, said Foreign Ministry Spokesman Tamim Khallaf.
The future of Sudan should be decided only by the Sudanese people, without interference from any party, the top diplomat told the gathering.
Abdelatty was also keen on shedding light on Egypt's efforts at the regional and international levels to clarify the reality about the current conflict in Sudan, and to defend its interests in various forums, according to the spokesman. (MENA)
