CAIRO, Dec 3 (MENA) – Minister of Foreign Affairs and Emigration Badr Abdelatty paid a visit to Port Sudan to hand over a written message from President Abdel Fattah El Sisi to President of Sudan’s Transitional Sovereignty Council (TSC) General Abdel-Fattah Al-Burhan.

The message focused on the promotion and development of relations between the two countries to serve the interests of the two brotherly peoples, SUNA reported.

Sudanese Minister of Foreign Affairs Ali Youssef said in a press statement that Abdelatty’s visit together with his accompanying delegation reflects the extent of the strength and development of relations between the two sisterly countries, indicating that it came at a historic and important time in the course of developments taking place in Sudan from the war of dignity to the efforts to end the war for the benefit of the Sudanese people and rebuild what the war destroyed and get Sudan out of the dark tunnel that this war and those who stood behind it put it in.

Abdelatty explained that his visit to Sudan came in implementation of the directives of Sisi to convey a message of full support and solidarity from the Egyptian state to the Sudanese state, noting that the meeting with the Sudanese side touched on the overall developments in the region and the directives of Sisi to provide all possible support to the Sudanese brothers, stressing the solidarity of the Egyptian people with the Sudanese people.

He added that he also listened to a briefing from TSC President on the developments in Sudan, stressing that there is a joint will from the Sudanese and Egyptian leaderships to intensify consultations between the two countries on all files of interest to Sudan and Egypt, particularly with regard to coordination in regional and international forums.

Abdelatty said that Egypt is keen to help Sudan restore its membership and activity in the African Union, stressing his country's readiness to do everything in its power to resume Sudan's activity within the African Union as soon as possible.

He added that there is ongoing consultation between the two countries on the Nile water issue as an existential issue for both Egypt and Sudan, particularly as they are downstream countries and their concerns must be taken into consideration.

Abdelatty referred to the economic forum for businessmen from the two countries that was recently held in Cairo, indicating that TSC President conveyed to him a message of thanks to President Sisi for the good reception of the Sudanese who sought refuge in Egypt due to the war.

For his part, Youssef added that the meeting between the TSC President and the top Egyptian diplomat was a fruitful meeting in which a written message was delivered from Sisi to his brother Al-Burhan, pointing out that the message emphasizes the common destiny of the peoples of the Nile Valley.

He said that Al-Burhan expressed his thanks and appreciation to the Egyptian President and the brotherly Egyptian people for the warm reception of the Sudanese who moved to Egypt after the war and the services provided by the Arab Republic of Egypt to them.

Youssef explained that there are some problems facing the Sudanese in Egypt and they were discussed with Abdelatty, who pledged to solve and address them.
