CAIRO, Dec 2 (MENA) - President Abdel Fattah El Sisi Monday emphasized the government’s unwavering commitment to facilitating the operations of international companies and fostering stronger collaboration with the private sector in this vital sector

The president made the remarks during a meeting with Chief Executive Officer of British Petroleum (BP) Murray Auchincloss.

The meeting was attended by Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources Karim Badawy and BP's Regional President for the Middle East and North Africa Nader Zaki.

President Sisi lauded BP’s activities in Egypt in the areas of gas and petroleum as well as its efforts in developing various Egyptian fields,
Spokesman for the Presidency Ambassador Mohamed el Shennawy said.

The President also commended the company’s expanded investment in Egypt’s energy sector.

The President emphasized keenness to expand cooperation with BP in clean and renewable energy, leveraging Egypt’s promising potential for green hydrogen production, in line with state’s broader goal of establishing Egypt as a regional hub for the production and export of green hydrogen as well as its endeavors to encourage global companies to engage in low-emission clean and renewable energy projects in Egypt.

Meanwhile, BP’s CEO expressed appreciation and pleasure for meeting with the President. He emphasized BP’s pride in its longstanding operations in Egypt, which have been ongoing for over 60 years.

Auchincloss underscored the company’s commitment to strengthening its presence and increasing its investments in Egypt’s energy sector, as a key partner in the exploration and development of Egypt's natural gas and oil resources.

He further highlighted BP’s plans to undertake projects for the production of clean and renewable energy, which represent a top priority for Egypt. (MENA)
