CAIRO, May 27 (MENA) – Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouli said that the government gives strong priority to localizing advanced technology industries and is open to offering exceptional incentives to companies with high local content and export volumes.
During a meeting with a delegation from Samsung Electronics at the Cabinet headquarters in the New Administrative Capital, Madbouli praised the company’s role in Egypt’s tech manufacturing sector.
He noted that Samsung’s factory in Beni Suef, the first of its kind in the Middle East and Africa, currently produces 6 million television units annually, with 85% of these units being exported to over 55 countries.
The factory has also started producing tablets for the Ministry of Education and recently began assembling mobile phones, with the capacity to reach 6 million devices per year.
The total investment has reached $700 million, including $30 million allocated to tablet production. The facility provides 5,000 jobs, both directly and indirectly.
During the meeting, the prime minister instructed Investment Minister Hassan El Khatib to continue discussions with Samsung to explain how the company can benefit from a new 7-billion-pound export support allocation, part of the government's updated 45-billion-pound rebate program for FY 2025–2026.
El Khatib said that the new program offers increased support for exporters and includes special measures for companies in Upper Egypt and the technology sectors.
