CAIRO, May 28 (MENA) - Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouli said Wednesday there is no alternative to continuing work on a plan to reduce debt rates and sustain a downward trajectory.

This came during a meeting he chaired this evening at the government headquarters in the New Administrative Capital, to review a number of proposals that will contribute to reducing debt to GDP ratio.

The meeting was attended by a number of officials, including Minister of Finance Ahmed Kouchouck, and Chairman of the Suez Canal Authority Osama Rabie.

The meeting discussed a number of proposals that will contribute to reducing debt, thus achieving the government's objectives in this regard, government spokesperson Mohamed el-Homsany said.

The meeting also tackled efforts to strengthen the country's foreign currency reserves from various sources, including foreign direct investment (FDIs), exports, Suez Canal revenues, remittances from Egyptians abroad, and others. (MENA)
