Abdelatty said the talks tackled the role of Italian companies in supporting development efforts in Egypt through their active participation in several sectors, topped by the energy sector.
Speaking at a joint press conference with Italian Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Antonio Tajani, he said the talks also took up ongoing projects regarding electricity interconnection between Egypt and Italy through maritime cables to export the Egyptian electricity generated from solar energy and wind power at a capacity of 3,000 megawatts.
He also referred to the interconnections with the European continent through Greece in a way that reflects the depth of relations between Egypt and Europe.
Abdelatty said the discussions dwelt on activating the Egyptian-Italian Business Council.
The Italian minister underscored the commitment of several companies in Italy to luring additional investments in Egypt.
Abdelatty said that he discussed with the Italian minister cooperation in the industrial field and the contributions of the Italian companies to supporting Egypt's efforts to strengthen different industries, in addition to cooperation in agriculture, food security, and artificial intelligence.
Shifting to the emigration file, Abdelatty said both sides agreed on the need to increase European support for Egypt to combat illegal emigration by luring new investments. (MORE)
