SOFIA, April 24 (MENA) - Bulgarian Minister of Environment and Water Manol Genov has met with European Commissioner for Climate, Net Zero and Clean Growth Wopke Hoekstra here on Thursday, the Bulgarian Ministry of Environment said in a press release.

The two sides discussed key issues related to the agenda of policies on environment and climate, the Bulgarian News Agency reported.

They also exchanged views on some aspects as regards the EU's climate goal until 2040, the energy transition and resources for its achievement, the EU Emissions Trading System, the Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism, and the Clean Industrial Deal.

Genov presented the main challenges Bulgaria faces on the way to green transition, pointing out that the successful implementation of the necessary fair transition will only be possible if public acceptability is guaranteed and the necessary investments are secured.

Hoekstra expressed his gratitude for the opportunity to discuss the EU's climate and clean growth policies.

Hoekstra is visiting Bulgaria as part of his tour of EU member states. (MENA)
