As for the situation in Sudan and South Sudan, Sisi and Guelleh have also reaffirmed their utter rejection of any actions that might threaten the unity, sovereignty and territorial integrity of Sudan, including the formation of a parallel government, which would only hinder any efforts to unify Sudanese political forces.
They also emphasized the need for all Sudanese forces to engage in a comprehensive political dialogue, prioritize national interests, facilitate delivery of humanitarian aid, and work together to pave the way for resuming Sudan's activities in the African Union.
Expressing their grave concern over the deteriorating political and security situation in South Sudan, the two leaders called on all the parties concerned to avoid escalation and resolve their differences through peaceful and diplomatic means to preserve the security and stability of South Sudan and the entire region.
As regards the Palestinian issue, the two sides condemned Israel’s renewed aggression on the Gaza Strip, in blatant violation of the ceasefire agreement, asserting the importance of implementing the outcomes of the extraordinary Arab summit held in Cairo in early March.
They also denounced Israel’s decision of blocking humanitarian aid to the war-torn strip, calling on the Israeli side to return to the negotiating table to agree on the arrangements for the second phase of the ceasefire and prisoner-swap agreement announced in mid-January.
The two leaders also emphasized the unified Arab position against any displacement of Palestinians from their lands, urging on US President Donald Trump and the international community to exercise pressure on Israel to oblige it to abide by the agreements reached. They expressed hopes to cooperate with the US President and all international forces to implement the Arab plan for reconstruction of Gaza. (MORE)
