Reiterating their support for the stability of the Syria and its state institutions, Sisi and Guelleh underlined the need to launch a comprehensive transitional process that engages all the Syrian people without any discrimination. They also rejected all forms of violence that could put Syria’s stability in jeopardy.
As for cooperation within the African Union, the two leaders agreed to work together to achieve the goals of Africa Agenda 2063, especially the efforts made to promote peace and security on the continent, including post-conflict reconstruction, development and peacebuilding, given President Sisi's leading role in this respect.
They also reaffirmed the importance of mobilizing more resources to support development projects in Africa, especially infrastructure projects, taking into account President Sisi's current chairmanship of the Steering Committee of Heads of State and Government of the African Union Development Agency (NEPAD).
At the Arab level, the two leaders agreed on the importance of maintaining coordination within the framework of the Arab League to revive the prospects of Afro-Arab cooperation based on the goals set out in the Malabo Declaration during the 4th Africa-Arab summit 2016.
The two sides also agreed on the need to bolster cooperation within the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO).
They directed the foreign ministers of both countries to follow up on the summit outcomes and prepare for convening of the Egyptian-Djiboutian joint committee for economic and technical cooperation at a time to be determined later through diplomatic channels. (MENA)
