Asserting a shared interest in furthering health cooperation, the two leaders welcomed Egypt's initiative to send a medical convoy for early detection of hearing impairment among children and adults, and providing them with hearing aids, and another convoy to install arterial connections for dialysis patients, scheduled to be dispatched in the near future.
They directed the officials concerned in both countries to work for boosting cooperation and speeding up the activation of a maternal and childcare center in Djibouti.
The two sides have also underscored the importance of promoting youth and sports cooperation through youth, student and sports exchange programs, welcoming ongoing cooperation between the ministries of sports in both countries to improve sports facilities in Djibouti, especially the "Hassan Guled stadium" in Djibouti’s capital.
They also discussed the efforts made to facilitate travel and transportation between the two countries, including the launch of EgyptAir's direct flight route between Cairo and Djibouti in July 2024.
They instructed the officials concerned in both countries explore cooperation opportunities in the civil aviation industry work for ensuring regular flights to strengthen people-to-people and trade ties.
Sisi and Guelleh hailed ongoing cooperation for combating terrorism and extremist ideologies, especially through the important role played by Al-Wassatiya Institute in Djibouti, whose imams and preachers are trained by a distinguished group Al-Azhar scholars to promote moderate Islam.
The two leaders welcomed the initiative to open Al-Azhar Arabic Language Center in Djibouti.
Several agreements and memorandums of understanding were signed during President Sisi’s visit, including two MoUs to promote in youth and sport cooperation, two executive programs to promote cooperation in higher education and scientific research for 2025-2028, an MoU between Egypt's National Media Authority and Djibouti's Radio and Television, and another MoU between Egypt's State Information Service and Djibouti's Ministry of Information.
