The EU is ready to support the Egypt-crafted Gaza reconstruction plan, but it needs further clarification on the sharing of funding, security arrangements and the governance of Gaza, Kallas said.

She explained the EU does not back the participation of Hamas in Gaza's administration, stressing the European bloc's commitment to the two-state solution, as being the only path to achieving lasting and just peace.

Kallas added that she probed with Abdelatty the recent violence in Syria's coastal region, calling for helping the Syrian people to restore stability in the country.

In this regard, she mentioned that the EU hosted a conference on Syria, where donors pledged 5.8 billion euros ($6.3 billion) to help Syria's new authorities

In this regard, Abdelatty indicated that it was decided to select 158 non-factional figures, all of whom are technocrats to run Gaza for six months until the Palestinian National Authority takes over.
