CAIRO, March 25 (MENA) - Minister of Planning, Economic Development and International Cooperation Rania el-Mashat discussed with ambassador of Azerbaijan to Egypt Elkhan Polukhov prospects of bilateral economic and investment cooperation.
According to a statement issued Tuesday by the Ministry of Planning, Economic Development and International Cooperation, the meeting came as part of efforts taken by the ministry to advance economic relations with multilateral and bilateral development partners and enhance prospects of economic development and investment cooperation.
The two sides also took up ways to collaboration between the two countries in various fields, including economic cooperation, the statement said.
Preparations for holding the 6th session of the Egyptian-Azerbaijani Joint Committee for Economic, Scientific and Technical Cooperation in Cairo this year figured high during the talks.
The Egyptian minister of planning will head the Egyptian side to the meeting and Azerbaijani Minister of Digital Development and Transport Rashad Nabiyev will lead his country's side, as these meetings aim to push economic, commercial and tourism cooperation to broader horizons and realize significant achievements, with a view to serving both peoples' interest, the statement said.
The two sides also addressed efforts to increase investments from the private sector in both countries and benefit from the vital role of the Egyptian and Azerbaijani economies in their regional surroundings, thus advancing joint development efforts, it added.
Mashat referred to the successful visit of President Ilham Aliyev of Azerbaijan to Egypt in June 2024, which witnessed the signing of seven documents in various fields, emphasizing the depth and strength of relations between the two countries, in addition to highlighting opportunities available to enhance bilateral cooperation in many areas, including economy, digital transformation, youth and sports, electricity, oil and gas and investment promotion, according to the statement.
Mashat pointed out to the importance of holding the Egyptian-Azerbaijani Business Forum and the strong participation representatives of Egyptian and Azerbaijani companies in the gathering that will be held on the sidelines of the meetings of the Joint Committee, to get acquainted with investment opportunities available in both countries, as well as advantages of investing in Egypt, to lure more Azerbaijani investments to the Egyptian market, the statement said.
