CAIRO, March 18 (MENA) - Minister of Foreign Affairs, Emigration and Egyptian Expatriates Badr Abdelatty discussed over the phone with his Dutch counterpart Caspar Veldkamp the latest developments in the Gaza Strip.
During the call, Abdelatty emphasized Egypt's condemnation of the Israeli airstrikes on the Gaza Strip early this morning, which have reignited tensions in the region, hindering efforts to restore calm and stability.
He stressed the need for the international community to pressure Israel to halt its aggression on the Gaza Strip, which constitutes a flagrant violation of the Gaza ceasefire agreement.
He highlighted the strenuous efforts that were made by Egypt to consolidate the agreement.
Egyptian efforts to support the ceasefire and preparations for a conference scheduled to be held in Cairo for Gaza early recovery and reconstruction were also discussed by the two sides.
During the conversation, the top Egyptian diplomat called on European Union (EU) member states, including the Netherlands, to continue to provide the necessary humanitarian support to address the catastrophic humanitarian situation in the Gaza Strip and participate in the conference.
He stressed the need to find a political horizon for the Palestinian-Israeli conflict, stressing that the two-state solution is the only path toward achieving peace in the region. (MENA)
